Cubs Game and Grandparents Visit

So this past weekend was a great weekend for the Taylor Family. Not only did we attend Jeremy's first Cubs game, but Grandma and Grandpa Taylor are out visiting. So the Cubs were in Tucson playing the Colorado Rockies in one of the final Spring Training games. We were fortunate enough to get tickets for the whole family to go. Grandma and Grandpa Taylor flew in at noon and we were able to make a 1 pm game.

The pictures below were taken at the game. Jeremy's first Cubs game, no Wrigley Field, but a good time nonetheless. We stayed for a few innings, and left when the Cubs were winning, but unfortunately they were not able to hold the lead and ended up losing. We are hoping that the Cubs can win a World Series in Jeremy's lifetime.

Drinking at the ballpark, no Old Style, but formula is just as good.

The Taylor boy's at the Cubs game. 3 generations of Cubs fans, 0 World Series Championships.

This is how we rock the Cubs hat.
The Cubs game was on Saturday, and on Sunday we drove up the road to Scottsdale to visit Grandma and Grandpa Doubek. It was a good time getting all the Grandparents together and everyone had a great visit. Jeremy was passed around and spent time with each of his Grandparents that day.
More to come from the visit by Grandma and Grandpa Taylor. We are planning on going to the zoo and to the Desert Museum in the next few days and will take more pictures to incorporate into the blog.
Oh, one other thing to note about Saturday. The temperature at the game was in the low 80's and a few of us got sunburned. I know that Chicago and Wisconsin were suppose to get a few inches of snow. So we just wanted to let you know that we feel your pain. Your pain is your back from shoveling, and our pain is the sunburn. Seems equal to me.

New Backyard - Grass!!!

So with the TV show, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition airing from a Tucson home this past weekend, it inspired Sara and Robb to do a home makeover of their own. The only difference is that instead of making over the inside of the house, the makeover was done to the backyard. A couple of years ago we decided that we were going to put river rock in the backyard and it worked well. But with Jeremy here and the fact that he is growing like a weed (no pun intended) we thought grass would be a good investment.

So out came the river rock, out came the fence, out came the concrete slab (suppose to be for a hot tub), and out came the feel of a small and cramped yard, and in it's place: a larger, greener backyard. A little piece of the Midwest in the Southwest desert. Enjoy the pictures of the backyard. When we take some with Jeremy on it, we will definitely post those as well. And if you do not remember what the old yard looked like, let us know and we can post pictures of the transformation.

Oh, Charlie loves having grass back. When she went on it for the first time she started rolling around on it. I bet it brings back some great memories of living back in Illinois. Dee was a bit hesitant at first, but has come around and has taken a liking to it also.

First Trip to the Zoo!!!

Today we made our first family trip to the Tucson Zoo. It was a beautiful day, sunny, breezy, temperature in the low 80's. Sorry to those of you still in the cold temperature and snow of the Midwest. It is beautiful out here. Well the Taylor family weren't the only people thinking about going to the zoo, seemed like the whole city of Tucson decided to go to the zoo today. Even though there were a lot of people it did not stop us from seeing our favorite animals!

Jeremy was beside himself with excitement as we walked around looking at all the different animals. We are not sure if he knew what he was looking at, but he enjoyed the sun and the people watching. Although as you can see from the pictures below he did have fun when some of the animals came up to see him. We ended up getting a family pass so we can go back and visit often and if anyone decides to come and visit we can take you to the zoo too!

Look it's Mommy's favorite animal, the Giraffe!

Daddy, check out the elephant!

It is huge!

That cat looks like it would have a fun time with Dee.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!!! So it has been some time since our last posting and a lot has happened. The last post was about Jeremy's 5 month birthday and we reported then that he had just started to find his toes and grabbing at things. He has really moved along since then, putting almost anything in his mouth. He will pull out his pacifier, put it down, then grab it and stick it back in his mouth. Pretty much if he can reach it, he will grab it and put it in his mouth. Good times.

We had also reported that he was getting close to rolling over. He is progressing nicely on that front as well. He will kick his feet up in the air and roll to one side, but has not quite gotten the rolling over part down. With the assistance of either Sara or Robb he can make it, but hasn't done it himself. Charlie and Dee will come around to check things out when he is on the floor. Jeremy has really taken to smiling and giggling at them. Charlie has always been good with Jeremy since the day we brought him home. Dee on the other hand has started to come around--which is good to see.

So we have decided to move forward and see if Jeremy is interested in trying baby food. We picked up a couple of different types and decided that we would go with applesauce. Sara took on the task of trying to spoon feed him and it surprised him at first. He wasn't a big fan of the applesauce, but did manage to swallow a couple of spoonfuls. Going to back to earlier, Jeremy decided to grab the spoon and feed himself. The pictures below are of Jeremy trying to eat baby food and his reaction.

Enjoy!!!

5 Months Old Today

Today Jeremy is 5 months old!!! Hard to believe that he has blessed us for 5 months already. It really does not seem like that. Time really has been flying by with him. In the last posting we mentioned that Jeremy has figured out his toes and grabbing at things. He is at the point where he is putting everything in his mouth. After finding his toes, he has now enjoyed trying to put him in his mouth. Good eats. He is starting to roll from side to side, but has not been able to roll over like he had weeks ago. He is feeling comfortable on his side, he just needs to learn to raise his arm up above his head, then he will be able to roll over.

Around the house Sara and Robb have been busy with different spring cleaning and home improvement projects. A new coat of paint, re-arranging a bedroom, and moving plants from the backyard. The weekend was short, but they were able to finish all their projects and set the house up nicely. Of course projects are never ending and there are plenty more to do in the next few weeks.

Toes and Such

Rocking the Illinois State shirt from Uncle Dave, but Sara still making sure that Illinois is represented around the house as well.

He just realized that he was wearing an Illinois State shirt.

First attempt at eating some rice cereal from a spoon.

It's an acquired taste. Most of it made it in his mouth.

Beautiful picture taken at Spirit and Amelie's bar-b-que party.

The gentlemen of the family. Just doing what they do, looking good.
So things have been pretty busy with us. Robb is really busy with work and Sara and Jeremy are doing there thing around the house and around town. We all went over to Spirit and Amelie's new house last night for a little bar-b-que and had a great time. Jeremy is really doing great going out at night to restaurants or parties and really doing a great job.
He has started to really grab and reach for things. He has also discovered his toes. He is always grabbing at and reaching for his toes. When holding him he grabs for noses and chins and the occasional eye ball. He is really beginning to take in his surroundings and enjoys exploring more with his hands.
We have also updated the webshots page with about a months worth of new pictures, so please take a look and enjoy all of them. Here is that link again to check out all the pictures, http://community.webshots.com/album/569501633smlFkN
